How do you people listen to commercial radio?

My Sirius sub ran its course and expired (credit card was stolen and the auto renewal didn't go through) So for the last five days I've listened to regular radio. It is abominable. Walton and Johnson? Kid Whatever? Some hole with Richard Condon?
I switched to ESPN a couple of times but it was commercials. Same commercials I have heard for 20 years. I like all of the guys at ESPN, they just aren't good at radio.

no idea
I cancelled my Sirius in my truck because I just don't drive in it enough to justify the expense (yes I know its only $10/month)
for the 10 minutes I drive, I just drive in silence rather than listen to fm radio

How does somebody do the vocals for AM radio commercials?
Do you have to be in a Baptist church choir?

Baton Rouge radio sucks. I really only listen to 106.1 in NOLA for Dan Patrick / Jim Rome.

It's brutal. Need to find my aux cord, listening to 80 stations with shitty talk radio spots this morning sucked arse

I don't drive enough to justify an extra $10/mo. My classic rock station is usually playing music for extended periods and I drive (10 min) in silence in the morning b/c I like it that way.

In BR, it's pretty terrible. We used to be able to catch a couple decent rock stations, 93.7 out of Lafayette and 92.3 out of New Orleans. 92.3 changed format to Nashville pop and 93.7 was bought out by a bible network. Now we're stuck with almost no music and shitty talk.
98.1: Walton & Johnson's shtick was old a decade ago and Condon makes the commute home nearly unlistenable. The amount of Journey and Foreigner makes it completely unlistenable.
97.7: kinda boring, but at least they play music
103.3: see 97.7, but in the mornings, the Bob & Tom show is just terrible. It's 4 hours straight of hyenas laughing broken up by 15 minute long commercial breaks.
96.9: Community radio with an inconsistant format. When they're playing music, they're pretty awesome. Lots of Zeppelin b-sides and indie tracks and local artists, but they have several random talk shows. They carry Democracy Now, some random progressive talk show "3rd Place", a movie critic show, and an environmentalism show. If they played more music and had a stronger signal, they would be a much better option.
The rest is either Top 40, Nashville Pop, Bible, hip/hop, or talk. :yak:

I love the Dan Tullis commercial when he calls Joe Clark a select quote agent that he wants to purchase a life insurance policy from.

NPR helps a little. You can get some informative stuff out of that station.
With the rest, I've found multiple times that different stations will be playing the same song at the same time. Talk shows will have about 6-7 minutes of contest and 9-10 minutes of commercials. It is horrible.
In our market, the variety in stations has decreased a good bit in the last 10 years.

I got a lifetime subscription about 10 years ago. Best money spent.

Have not listened to terrestrial radio in over 10 years and have no idea how anyone does.

Do you call to cancel so they'll give you the better rate, or just stick with the auto renewal rates?

I maintain Sirius in my third vehicle that I drive maybe 10 miles a week. I can't bear local radio unless it's WWOZ in Nola.
And morning bud. Have I texted you yet about the baby?

Nola morning radio is terrible, too. At least for sports radio. They don't catch 104.9 Culotta and the Prince and I just can't listen to W&J anymore. I just tough it out and listen to Mike and Mike on my 15 minute drive.

I am forced to listen to Bob and Tom at work... It is truly the worst shite I have ever heard

I've never had sat radio, and never once thought I needed it
I enjoy local sports talk radio in the morning and the afternoon, commercials really dont bother me
