During the Hundred Years War between England and France, the English Longbow was the ultimate weapon for the English. So, whenever the French soldiers captured English archers, they would cut off their middle finger so they couldn't draw their bows anymore. Because of this practice, English archers would often taunt their French opponents (while being well out of range of any French archers due to the longbow's superiority) by extending their middle finger and yelling, "I can still pluck you!" Pluck slowly morphed into f&%k and the rest is history.
