How do you deal with miserable people you encounter in the world?

You know the kind of people who are usually bitchy and single middle-aged women who try to bring everyone down to their level of depression.

I find when I encounter these people, I usually get pissed and let them bother me. Trying to get past that...guess maybe I should do heavy breathing or yoga or something. Maybe a punching bag

Be positive and offer encouragement for things in their life that could make them happy.

We'd live in a better world if we were more concerned with how we could make others happy rather than how others make us feel.

Wait I forgot where I was posting...

I know I'm better than them. The wolf doesn't concern himself with opinion of the sheep.

You go on the attack and crush them for being such a miserable person and celebrate the stud that you are. It makes them feel worse, makes you feel better and the gulf separating your great life and their miserable life becomes wider.

It's a win.

I give the attitude right back to them. Most of the time, they get the message and chill out.

my tolerance for negative people has definitely grown lower as I get older....life is just too short to spend it pissed off about things that are unimportant. I generally try to stay positive and that rubs off on people around me. If someone is unnecessarily negative, I just generally steer clear of them.

So how do I deal with liberals?

I just laugh at them and go on about my day

Where are you running into these people that make you so concerned you start a thread about? I don't encounter them or I guess I don't engage them.

I moved 2,600 miles to get away from the miserable people I surrounded myself with. Best decision I've ever made.

Unless one of those people doubles as a phone charger, I can cut them out of my life quite easily.
I take a moment to remind myself to never be that person, and then I move on.

Using the golden rule is never a bad idea. The other guy had it right until he remembered this was the OT.

Emotional vampires. You owe them nothing. Very few people practice this mindfully, but IMHO you actually have a moral OBLIGATION to be positive and decent to the people around you . Conversely, nobody has a right to be miserable around you without risking being called out for it. Never let anybody interrupt your Zen bro.

You can actually practice this mindfully in traffic and any other place where people act like jackasses. Focus on your heart rate and see how calm you can stay in the storm . After a while it becomes second nature. You start to feel kind of powerful when you can master your emotions around emotional vampires.

"Bless your heart" is always a good catch all reply. Other than that, avoid them. Don't let anyone steal your joy.
