Is it something you’d sign-up for if it’s available in your lifetime?

Pray tell how they are supposed to transfer your actual conciseness, or in other words, your soul to a computer rather than simply copy perhaps a portion of your memories and personal attributes to this machine so it can mimic who and what it’s programming says you were.

As long as my consciousness will eventually be downloaded into a humanoid entity. I don’t want to be stored on a server in some basement for the next 500 years.

Are we talking about uploading your consciousness to some digital format?

One, I’m not convinced it’s possible. Two, if you could, then heck naw. How do you know someone wouldn’t transfer you into some eternal digital hellscape just for lulz or for revenge? Your disembodied consciousness has no way to actually act in the world so there’s no controlling what happens to you.

even if the technology isn’t there for it to get inserted into some physical avatar at first, most people would still sign-on to simply be stored on a jump drive for as long as they’d like.

Hell no. Ex wife would continue to harass my consciousness. Dying and disappearing is the sweet relief.

Then most people wouldn’t be thinking this through.

What if, by some mistake or accident (or not), you end up conscious and aware while you’re on that damned thing? What would you experience for 500 years on some hard drive? Would it be like being inside of a box?

You wouldn’t even be able to take your own life in that scenario because you’re technically not even alive. You’re just there, in the dark, not feeling anything, just aware. For centuries.

Nah fam. Just let me go when my body is done.
