Bought a house, and had to do some caulking to close some openings so water didn't get into the wood and rot it. The caulk is white and doesn't match the trim paint, which is like an off-white / tan color.

The previous owner's didn't leave any paint for this trim, so I don't have any liquid to bring to Lowe's and get matched. How can I get some paint that matches to do some touching up? I don't want to eyeball it and end up having to repaint all the exterior trim b/c it doesn't match.

Burn the house down. Tell the paint guy you need charcoal grey

Take a chip of paint from the siding and bring it to Lowe's. They'll match it.

Cut a chunk of the dried paint off of the trim with a razor knife. They can actually match that solid sample easier than if you had liquid paint. Needs to be bigger than a quarter

Take a pic on your phone. It's just trim touch-up so the fact that since theres no possible way to match an already oxidized paint color it shouldn't be noticeable to anyone but you.
Anyone else who notices is just a prick anyway

Extract DNA from old paint and clone it. It's the only way.

I always go to Sherwin Williams or Ben Moore for paint matching. They are the pros.

As others have said, bring them a chip. The bigger the better but a nickel or quarter size should work.

I've actually pulled off small moldings and renailed/caulked.

To get a perfect match you need to take a circular saw
and cut out a 2' by 2' piece of the original, and then take it to home depot, and out front of store ask a Mexican how many peso it will take to fix this shite.

MFing this. Do not go to Lowes or HD. People at SW and BM do this all day every day.
