Cat you're better than this. You know that song was written for the opposite reason right?

I have no idea what you're talking about actually.

I just remember hearing it in Toy Story and really thinking about the lyrics and thinking "wow, this dude has some serious beef with midgets"

Probably because it’s a word just like redneck is just a word.

Wasn’t the song made with the intention of poking fun at how rednecks are dumb?

Surprised no one has brought up this gem yet:

Louisiana 1927

What has happened down here is the winds have changed
Clouds roll in from the north and it start to rain
Rained real hard and rained for a real long time
Six feet of water in the streets of Evangeline
The river rose all day, the river rose all night
Some people got lost in the flood
Some people got away alright
The river have busted through, clear down to Plaquemine
Six feet of water in the streets of Evangeline

Louisiana, Louisiana
They're tryin' to wash us away
They're tryin' to wash us away
Louisiana, Louisiana
They're tryin' to wash us away
They're tryin' to wash us away

President Coolidge came down in a railroad train
With a little fat man with a notepad in his hand
President say "little fat man, isn't it a shame?"
What the river has done to this poor cracker's land

Louisiana, Louisiana
They're tryin' to wash us away
They're tryin' to wash us away
Louisiana, Louisiana
They're tryin' to wash us away
They're tryin' to wash us away
They're tryin' to wash us away
They're tryin' to wash us away

If you listen all the way through, he's actually making fun of Northerners perception of Southerners.

Fall of 2005. Calc 1552. Scheduling is all messed up due to Katrina and LSU accepting Tulane students. Let us drop and pick up new sections of classes wayyyyy into the semester. I switched sections because I missed a quiz. Second day in that class and I have a test that I bombed. Walk in the next class when he hands them back and he has a breakdown, because apparently I wasn't the only one who bombed. Told us he was retiring after the semester because he was tired of teaching kids that didn't care. He then sang this part of the song and I'm giggling my arse off. No one knew the song and I'm sitting around waiting to see how far he'll go into it wondering if he's about to drop an N-bomb . Never went back to that class.

The end of the song speaks to the Hypocrisy of northern whites and their attitudes toward both the south and black people in their own cities.

Incidently Randy Newman spent some time growing up in NOLA.

dude definitely looks at the world through a different lens I've read enough of his interviews to see that he definitely looks down his nose at southern people, don't know why, he spent a couple of summers in New Orleans as a kid, did not come from poverty, just a screw loose I guess

Because once upon a time we were adults and we realized that words , even “ bad “ words could be used as political satire. We didn’t hear the “n word” said by a white guy and immediately demand that he be hung, we listened to why he was using it, and used our brains . But now that Progressivism has infantalized our entire culture, we must pretend we are offended and stick to Correct Speech.
