LINK

It is used through out the song and even in the chorus yet it has never been discussed.

Would he be able to write this song in 2019?

He's a pretty crazy dude.

He has controversial song lyrics all over the place. No clue how he and his legacy haven't been skewered by the media.

ETA:

See his random hatred of midgets in "Short People"

quote:

Short people got no reason
Short people got no reason
Short people got no reason
To live
They got little hands
And little eyes
And they walk around
Tellin' great big lies
They got little noses
And tiny little teeth
They wear platform shoes
On their nasty little feet
Well, I don't want no short people
Don't want no short people
Don't want no short people
Round here
Short people are just the same
As you and I
(A fool such as I)
All men are brothers
Until the day they die
(It's a wonderful world)
Short people got nobody
Short people got nobody
Short people got nobody
To love
They got little baby legs
And they stand so low
You got to pick 'em up
Just to say hello
They got little cars
That got beep, beep, beep
They got little voices
Goin' peep, peep, peep
They got grubby little fingers
And dirty little minds
They're gonna get you every time
Well, I don't want no short people
Don't want no short people
Don't want no short people
'Round here

I think his voice is so unique and good that people just don't pay attention to the lyrics.

It is a crazy phenomenon.

because he was one of the first "enlightened" white dudes that was able to cash in on making satire, fun of, and money of course, off of putting down southern white men

“College men from LSU
Went in dumb came out dumb too
Hustling round Atlanta in their alligator boots
Getting drunk every weekend at the bbq”

To be fair, I’m absolute shite with names. Actors, actresses, singers, I’m horrible with remembering their names.

I’ve probably heard some of his songs but just don’t realize they’re his.

We got no necked oilmen from Texas

Gettin' drunk every weekend at the barbecues
And they're keepin' the n*****s down

Weird argument to make

Randy Newman is still alive and wrote the Rednecks song in the OP in 1974

I'm sure you have heard "I Love LA".
He also sings in the opening scene of Major League.
He might have more than one song in that movie.

this, he's more of a writer/composer than performer, he's written a lot of songs that other people recorded that I'm sure you've heard, one of my favorites is "Mama Told Me Not To Come"
