How awful would it be to be a reporter these days?

Just reading through that shooting at MSY thread and clicking the twitter links to the photos. Any tard who uploaded a pic was bombarded by reporters begging to talk to the people and permission to use the photos.
That would be a terrible way to make a living.

Since many are scum, I'd think pretty bed. Trouble is that most are too stupid to know they're scum therefore don't know the difference.

Pretty awful. You work all the time and make next to nothing. Starting salary is in the 20s.
That said, there are only 35,000 or so journalism jobs in the entire country right now. All the J-School kids go into PR or some type of institutional communications, where they start in the 40s and 50s and have much more security.

I was a journalism major for one of my degrees and I have no problem with that, knowing I'd never go into traditional journalism. Most of what I learned isn't applicable to modern journalism and I leaned a lot about communicating with people through various mediums.
