At what point do these places start suing? They have been closed since March. I fail to see how this is more risky than a restaurant when you can close down rows of seats and easily enforce distancing.

Because it's a source of enjoyment for people.

I agree. X% capacity, mandatory masks.... no reason they can’t be allowed to open.

I would’ve like to have seen Tenet when it was originally supposed to come out tbh

Also the popcorn sounds nice too

And a flask of bourbon mixed into a coke

I don’t know many businesses that can go half a year without revenue. Going to be surprised to see any movie theaters make it. Time to get my own butter machine

I’d love to see a movie. Just about everything else is open.

Purely entertainment in an indoor cold environment

Has a lot of strikes.

This. Media strategy is to remove all outlets of enjoyment, and blame it on evil orange man. Won’t work, MAGA bitch

There might be an issue with lines.

I dont know about elsewhere, but movie theatres at least here in San Antonio are open. The problem being that the studios are pushing release dates back and back. The theatres are limiting capacity and having guidelines for watching movies, but the studios aren't going to release a movie to theatres when they have maybe a 1/4 of their capacity allowed.

Family in the business, one of our theaters already mentioned in this thread. Bottom line, if the studios would release new product, we would show them and people would come.

In the cities we’re not allowed to open, the drive thru’s are doing well showing old movies. But where we have opened, we’ve had to close half of the reopened theaters bc they were losing too much money.

We’ve been told if 2 of the largest 4 markets in the country open theaters back up, the studios will start releasing titles.

On a quasi-unrelated note, I've been stuck at home for over a month binge-watching shite

I highly recommend the series Queen of the South.

I believe it’s because studios aren’t releasing any movies right now. I’d love for them to open and play classic movies though
