Houston OTers: parking in downtown...

Job is moving me back downtown. I live in the eastern side of midtown/near 59.
I do not live close enough to walk, need to park my car. Can anyone provide any tips on best way to do this. I do not want to pay a couple hundred a month to park.
I am considering taking the rail as well.

Use the allowance to pay for parking

Get a monthly contract with a garage. What part of downtown?

Ok I was wanting to figure out if there were any workable alternatives to the garage.

A garage spot shouldn't cost more than $100/month.

Park at the Hyatt.

If the rail is convenient to your work place, it will work for you. You'll have to pay for the train and parking at the park & ride station, but it will be pennies by comparison.
Houston rail is nice, it just doesn't go everywhere its needed yet.

Hyatt, Allen Center, lot just under 45 by the Refinery, theater district parking, hobby center parking
The beauty of Hyatt, Hobby Center, and Theater District are that they connect to the tunnels under ground so you won't have to walk to/from your car in the rain or heat.

Coworker was paying $200 a month. I start in a couple weeks.
Was curious about alternatives before I signed a contract.
Someone said I could park on McGowen across from Reef and take the rail from there.
Yeah I sound cheap but I just want to be sure I looked at all alternatives...

Do you live near a park and ride?

Check out the surface lots too, they typically run cheaper than the garages. Not sure if they do contract though. They are disappearing too.

Hyatt is $98/month for the top floor. It's closer to $200 if you want one of the prime floors.

Your coworker is getting ripped. I play $145/month for Theater District Parking and I think Hobby Center and Hyatt parking are both around $100/month.

Park at the Toyota Center garage. $2 parking (cash only). Only on non-gamedays I believe though.
