Watching this online. This is bringing back memories of May 1995 in Metry.

I'm hunkered down but can't sleep. Smoked 3 packs of marble reds already.

I was in River Ridge in '95...got a little apprehension about this line of storms coming our way.

I just went outside and started to drain the pool. It overflowed today from all the rain last night and today...I figured I'll drop the water level about 6-8 inches so it won't overflow again in a few hours.

I can't sleep either. NW side checking in. No flooding in my neighborhood but I heard that a house two neighborhoods over was struck by lightning earlier tonight and was on fire.

Reference shot for freeway flooding depicted in some of the Transtar camera images. Apologies if it's too big (that's what she said).

That looks like it did back with Tropical Storm Allison.

Yeah, that's Allison, sorry. Medical Center flooded then, ruining lots of important medical experiments and specimens. They built a flood-control system, we'll see how it works. I guess that was 2001.

Interstate 45 north from downtown to the loop was built along a creek. They channelized the creek below and alongside the highway, and it dumps into White Oak Bayou, along which Interstate 10 was built. That junction floods badly.

Record for most rain in a 24-hour period was in Alvin (Nolan Ryan's hometown for foreigner non-Texans reading this), which is between Houston and Galveston.

43 inches, 1979.
