And it doesn't matter what size or price home you buy, still just as painful.

Wait till you make the first payments and realize only $90 goes to the principal and the rest goes to the interest..

I used a mortgage broker and dont remember anything difficult. I met with him for about an hour, provided a few documents and that was about it. That was my first home I bought in 2010 though an FHA loan. I'm about to buy again soon so what kinds of issues are you guys having?

Not on a 15 year loan. Granted, I realize that not everyone can take on a 15 year note, but for mine, just over 2/3 goes to principal. Looking at my balance every couple of months, we're making a huge dent. Actually feels refreshing and rewarding.

It is because of the way you are paid. I just had to refinance my wife's student loan and it took forever because of how we are paid.

Also I would avoid using a credit card or opening another credit account until you have signed about 1273 times on the dotted line
Also, prepare yourself for the important documents they'll forget to tell you about until 25 minutes before you are leaving to go to the closing.

Try the VA home loan route if you want to feel even more pain.

Home loans suck arse
So far I've given the mortgage lender every bit of financial info, my blood type and a kidney. I would rather be bit by a snake than do this again.
Person needing money: Say there....I need 350K.
Lender: Do you? Provide me with plenty of info./proof that gives me a good feeling you will pay me back.
It's all part of it.

You also understand the process considering what you used to do

This is a refi to go down to a 15 year loan
Unless you are severely reducing your interest rate this is a sucker move.
Just pay the 15 year payment...and avoid adding closing costs.
Idiot.

I literally had every single income document to my lender 15 minutes after our initial phone call.
