Had you said a particular age, like 11 year olds or something, that'd been really creepy.

10K in CC debt should't mean much, jesus.

Uhh, the amount is irrelevant and not what makes this meaningful.

Did you really miss that?

Yep, I was going to post that.

If his posts are genuine, there's zero chance this marriage is lasting.

I'd eat the $30k for the reasons you stated, I'm not paying $300-400k(made up number) for a house I'm not living in, which is what he'll be doing if...when he goes through with this.

Pay for delete is like a black market deal. Most creditors won't work with you.

Creditors wont.

Collection agencies will.

It still has a negative effect on your credit report.

My wife told me before we got married she had 60k in credit card debt from when her Mom opened credit cards in her name to open a catering business that failed. My FIL had been paying them for years until he got cancer. After my wife had been paying $1200 a month for 5 years I told her to try and work out a payment plan with the card companies. She tried and that didn't work so I told her to quite paying them. After a bunch of debt creditor calls we started to settle with them with no interest payments and lump sum payments. The lump sum payments we had to claim on our taxes. For example I think we made a $5000 payment on a card she 12k on and we had to claim 7k on taxes(not real sure what the numbers were since it has been a few years but it was less than 50%.). Bottom line is we saved a bunch of money going this route and yes she took a hit on credit but it was worth it. We also made sure we had good working vehicles before we decided to do this so we wouldn't get screwed on vechile purchases in the near future.

In the 11 years I have been with my wife I only my met my MIL once and my wife has only seen her that one time also. Mil is such a pos that she has never met any of the 4 grand kids ranging from 12 to 7 years old.

Way to not overreact. She screwed up and ran up some debt, no big deal, no weird purchases, let it go and move on. Also, there has to be a reason for this situation. either you're very tight with your money and harp on her for spending or she just let a credit card get out of hand and was scared to let you know.

Eta: from this thread and the previous one, it really seems that you're upset with your wife beyond money and irresponsibilities, talk to us about it. Do you sense there is something else going on?

She just sounds lazy to me. I'm thinking none of those. But she's definitely a chronic eater.

And OP... I hope she leaves you after you sign for the house. You sound like white trash the way you talk about your wife in this thread and in the other that was linked.

The way you are talking about her on here, I can imagine how you reacted with your wife when you found out. Since you've had a chance to cool down before you came on here to air your laundry yet you're still talking about her like this, I'm not surprised she never told you. She is probably scared to death of you.

And she's probably thrilled you've told a bunch of strangers on here all about your marriage.

The fact you keep referring to your wife of 5 years as "this chick" while sending Super Saint the #white makes you a douchebag. That chick as you call her probably has 10k in debt buying gifts for the mandingo that's railing her. #nosympathy

Either pay the debt off and move on with life or get ready for a more expensive divorce.

Either way you are out at least $10k. Paying it off will be the cheaper option.

OP, true love is hard to find, sometimes you think you have true love and then you catch the early flight home from San Diego and a couple of nude people jump out of your bathroom blindfolded like a goddamn magic show ready to double team your wife, a wife who ran up 10k in credit card debt behind your back...
