Home Improvement Board- Button to turn on jets in tub sticking

My wife's (no pics) bathtub has a button on the side to turn the jets on and off, and when you push it, it doesn't always pop back out, so the jets will be stuck on or off, and I have to try and unstick it. Any ideas on how to fix this?

TIA

Do you water/bleach the jets?

"If it moves and it's not supposed to move, use duct tape."

"If it doesn't move and it's supposed to move, use WD-40."

Repeat as necessary......

that wouldn't make the button outside the tub stick

This is an air button (Most have this). Did you try a little WD-40? Just like you get a soap film in the tub, the button can get a film. Try this first. Trip the GFI, move the button up and down with the spray till it frees up.

Take a baseball bat and bash the button - it should become unstuck right away.

I heard that you should run dishwashing detergent through the jets once every few months. I think this needs an entirely new thread though.

I only entered this thread to see how long it would take LSUDad to enter it.

4 minutes... Slacking..

I know this. The question was somewhat off topic. I do this and was going to ask if it caused other issues. I'm assuming it does but who knows. My tub is only 3 years old.

No, I've read that you should do this every once in a while, but I've never done it.

Dad, I sprayed some WD40 on it and it moves much better now. Thanks. Is there any way to clean out the buildup? I was thinking maybe spray some foaming cleaner to maybe break some of that stuff up, but didn't know if it would do any good.

OK, heres one for you Dad, et al plumbers.

Tub jets rarely, if ever, turned on. When you do turn on, system runs for 15 seconds, no jet action takes place, and then breakers click off.

Are the jets stopped up with slime?

You should do this at least once every 3-4 months, depends on how much you use the tub.

NO, don't use the foam cleaners. You have a rubber O-ring inside (Seal) and this stuff could harm it. Like I said, this is an Air Button, this is so no wires, lines, etc. can harm you once the thing is started.

The breaker or the GFI trips?

Some have an overspeed trip, to keep from running them while dry.

But it does have a GFI?

Has this worked before?

Have you done anything in the house, bath electrically?

Pretty much the trend around here.
