Looking for recommendations on reputable home builder on North Shore. Rural property, approx. 2500 Sq/ft living.

Townsend Homes would fit the bill for what you are trying to do. They build mostly on your lot and do a nice job.
They built my office within the last 5 years and did an excellent job.

Spend some of that money on a professional surveyor, then whatever the elevation, put about three feet of dirt on top of it.

Solid advice.
Don't let them fill an A10 to C.

I can recommend who not to use, Northshore Custom Homes. Miserable experience.

OAL construction out of hammond. Would recommend him to anyone. Just moved in our house and all the subs rave about working for him

There was a cost to build sq/ft discussion a while back but couldn't find it with my search. Anyone post link?
I also heard good things about OAL construction. I was surprised to see so many DSLD homes/neighborhoods everywhere on the North shore.

Our neighborhood was originally built by Southern Homes and then DSLD bought the remainder of the lots. All of my neighbors across the street from me seem to have no problems with their houses (built by DSLD) but you dont really get alot of customization.
To answer your question though, have you looked at the list of approved builders for Bedico Creek?

I'm about to build though. So ready to get out of this neighborhood. My house has lost value since i purchased.

That's often a problem with DSLD. Bought my house 6 years ago and would break even after I sold it.

My first home out of college was a DSLD home. A basic starter home neighborhood ranging from $140,000-$180,000. I bought for $159,000 and sold for $179,000 3 years later. It just depends where you buy.

You're going to be on the market with a sh!t-ton of other people right now looking for contractors after the flooding, you realize that right? The home repair work they can knock out and get FEMA-related disaster grant money is going to make them want to expand to a few basic crews and wanna do a ton of small jobs quickly to rake up cash.
Then after that, once the major grants get approved on a parish-wide basis, they'll be bidding to be the contractors to do the elevation work over that way.
Gonna be pricier to build homes out that way for awhile IMO. May wanna review your budget ASAP or lock someone down even more ASAP.

Try Pat Burmaster at Burmaster Construction - (985)966-5123. I'm two months from completion with him on the Northshore and have been really happy with him.
