Check out these impressive numbers for Chevrolet for EV's sold so far this year. Go bowtie!

Damn - The Volt and Bolt EV (combined) are outselling the Prius Prime and Model S (combined).

I'm not sure the Tesla X is in full production, yet, so I think that's the next big seller.

Can you charge it by plugging it into the cigarette lighter socket?

There are people that are getting 300 miles on one charge out of their Chevy Bolt EV.

I think Chevrolet and Tesla are within 5 years of a fully electric vehicle that can fully match the range of a typical gasoline powered car.

Do you mean the model 3? I've read that it will be delayed another 6 months at least.

No the 3 is the compact car (like a BMW 3 or Mercedes C class). The X is the crossover SUV body.

If this list doesn't include fleet/government sales that's impressive.

They must be driving really fast.

I'm confused, I thought Trump was going to outlaw electric cars?

That would be awesome and huge, but it still doesn't remove the potential for being stranded when it runs out (unless you have 8-12 or however long it takes for them to charge back up).

I think the range is extended in stop and go traffic because the brakes charge the battery.

My take as well. If this includes GM Fleet sales, meh.

Tesla's Superchargers are becoming more popular. There's one next to Trader Joe's in Baton Rouge. Chevrolet also has an expanding DC charger network that can provide about 90 miles worth of charge in 30 minutes. DC Charger

I think the X has been on sale for a while. The Model S is the one I really want.

Interesting. I'd be curious what the cost per mile is for charging vs. regular ole unleaded.

It has, but there were delays and there are problems with the doors. It won some awards in the fall - that's what I meant - I expect it to surpass the S because of the crossover/family deal - the S is an executive car. The X is the SUV. The 3 is going to be a sporty compact(and it is smaller)- I don't see Musk pushing an economy car anytime soon - although we may see a tiny one from Tesla at some point in the future.

Well, I wanted a Roadster, but now that I'm older, I kind of agree with you - the S is the way to go at this point.

The Model S and the Bolt both use a 60 KWh battery I think. Average costs per KWh is about $0.12 in the US.

So 200-300 miles for $7-$10?

So your monthly electric bill would go up about $35-$55 dollars if you drive 12,000 miles per year and charge at home (depending on your driving style of course). Maybe someone can correct my math.

Depends on your electricity cost, but roughly 3-7 cents per mile.

If you're on the road with a Tesla, and use their charging stations, it's free.

The autonomous driving mode in the Tesla is as much of a selling point to me as the full electric drive. I'm sure that the little Model 3 with that will approach $50,000 when they finally start building them.
