Convicted felon, armed with a stolen handgun, attempts a rape. Gets caught and the judge hits him with a huge bond

This guy will be back out on the streets on a couple of years

The victim of an aggravated kidnapping and attempted rape that happened early Sunday morning was able to get away and the suspect is now behind bars
According to Baton Rouge Police, the victim was westbound on Government Street in the 1000 block stopped at a red light when 37-year-old Samuel Joseph Jr. opened the victim's door, and got in with a silver revolver and demanded oral sex from the victim.
The probable cause report says Joseph pointed the gun at the victim and forced him to drive to several locations. The victim then went to McDonald's on Government Street where he got out of the vehicle, ran and called police.
A description of Joseph was broadcast to police to be on the lookout for. Joseph was spotted in the 1300 block of Terrace Street. While police were searching him, they found a handgun in his right, front pocket. Police say Joseph began to fight and resist arrest. "A K-9 and a Taser were used to safely detain the defendant," said the police report.
Reports say the gun in Joseph's possession is reported stolen. Joseph was taken to the hospital for his injuries and then he was taken to the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. During the investigation, detectives learned Joseph is a felon.

Joseph was charged with attempted aggravated rape, second degree kidnapping, resisting arrest by force/violence, aggravated assault, illegal possession of a stolen firearm, illegal carrying of a firearm, and felon in possession of a firearm. He is being held on a $67,000 bond.

That's because the justice system doesn't care about male rape victims.

Or the DA just did a shitty job.

you think the victim actually had to give oral but just didn't want to admit it?

The D.A. has nothing to do with the Judge who sets the bond. Thats very low.

This towns whole Judicial system from judges to DA is a complete freaking joke. Im seriously tired of this crap. They are the reason for the crime problem here because that let this scum back out on the street. I wish they all would be removed.

That's very low for those charges

I also want to know who the judge is. Aren't they elected? Why won't they ever name the judges?
Posted on 7/14/14 at 4:38 pm to HotMama79
Because it is a BS system those people in those offices have this whole system rigged up. They purposely wont name judges.

I'm for the death penalty in a case like tbis. If you point the gun at someone it's as good as killing in my book. POS

This is why people are leaving Baton Rouge in droves. The "bad guys" think the 19th JDC is a joke, which it is, and they commit crimes because there is no punishment. If there is a punishment, it is minuscule compared to any surrounding parishes. Go look at the bonds in other parishes that surround EBR. They bond comparisons aren't even close.
