(CBS SF) — The latest San Francisco housing market shocker comes courtesy of 435 Duboce Avenue, where a one-bedroom apartment will cost you $6,500 a month.

Hoodline reports the top, third floor apartment offers wide city views, marble counter tops, housecleaning services and a sound-proofed interior to tune out noise from the N-Judah Muni streetcar just a few steps outside.

And at 981 square feet, or $7 a square foot, be prepared to shell out $13,000 for the the security deposit.

As of May, the average rent for a 1-bedroom in San Francisco is $3,803.

Does it include a washer and dryer?

Yes, but no central air. You can't have both.

SF is cool but those rents are crazy. Friend of ours had a rent controlled place that we stayed at. Too bad she gave it up to move to LA.

San Fran is ridiculous, but there are people who can afford it and will pay it. It will probably be a young couple that makes serious money. Let all your notions of value go out of the door. It is probably the hottest city on the planet right now.

You don't need A/C in San Francisco. Year round temp is in the 60s.

My sister lived there for a few years and they always left the windows open.

So worth it IMO

My friend lives out there in a one bedroom right next to golden gate park for 1340 with water and gas included. He is moving to Oakland to live in a 4 bedroom house for only 900 a month rent. And neither is in a shitty area. I would consider his San Fran neighborhood to be very nice.

my sister works for a start up and makes decent money. She lives with multiple roommates in haight-Ashbury. The rents are through the roof. I don't see how most people do it.

It is an incredible city. Obviously not for all people, but it is an unreal place to visit.

fricking right. The food, the drinks, the drugs, and the arts. It's like what New Orleans wished it could be

People in SF would be proud of this. Small apartment, ridiculous rent. It's a badge of honor to live in a small place that costs a fortune.

I love san fran, and my work which is HQ'd there has tried to get me to move there several times. the math just doesn't work though.

We had some friends that moved out there, and they had to pay rent for 6 months in advance. In cash. On the day they saw the apt. Craziness.

I think it was about 4k for a 1 bdrm, don't recall.

How? Has it been rent controlled for decades?

981 sq ft is pretty large for san fran. I have a friend that had a 400 sq ft place.

Yeah, its better than new orleans. The only thing about it is the people aren't particularly friendly. I would much rather a weekend in NOLA vs. a weekend in san fran. of course, I get 10-15 nights in downtown san fran on the company dime each year.

We are the very... VERY mini version. Our rents and real estate are ridiculous for the region. And the food, well never mind...

The bench I slept on in SF for three weeks was $500. I know it should have been free, but the kind gentleman with the jagged knife insisted he was the landlord.

Oh, Tenderloin. Such a wonderful place.

It's weird cause I can search for jobs similar to mine up there and the salaries are comparable to what I make here.

It just costs 4x as much to live
