She is awesome. Definitely in the top three. Very smart and well liked. Her husband is a cop and is extremely well liked too.

More experience than necessary, hire her now

I've known Sharon Williams Douglas for years and she is one of the smartest, hardest working women I've ever known. This will get shite all over but she would make a great chief. I believe her husband works the street as an officer also.

Well Broke then you obviously don't know her that well. Her husband does not "work the street as an officer" but is a detective and has been for years. Futhermore she has no business being the chief, she works in the recruiting/academy and really has not done real police work for a while or, to my knowledge, have any type of administration/supervisory experience. She may be well educated (depends on what you consider educated) and from all accounts a very nice person but doesn't mean she would be a good candidate for chief.

I’d vote Murphy Paul Jr of State police.

We have had black and white police chiefs. Some were better than others. I just hope we get a good one this time.

Yeah. Because the last State Police guy worked out so well. If I recall correctly, he was fired and almost got indicted?

Not to mention, LSP and BRPD are such radically different organizations that thinking you can roll into the PD and start treating Officers like Troopers isn't ever going to fly.

Murphy Paul of the HIGHWAY PATROL

Fixed it for you.

And no. Inner city policing of an organization bound by civil service law isn't suited for someone with his background.
