My neurologist has given me a few weeks to research it before next visit. I've tried numerous pain meds and wants to try this instead of making me a opioid zombie.

My last patient with one had debilitating pain when his stimulator's battery died, and previously he had been pain free. Seemed like it worked well for him but that's just one example. Talk to your doc and see what kind of results he sees in his patients. Also ask about his complication rate.

I've got a tens unit.

so yes. I know someone. me.

I used it on my feet and legs. by direction from my doctor.

seems to have worked.

it blocks pain signals.

I never used it on my spinal cord.

I use a tens unit for my lower back pain. If i am correct you are not suppose to use a tens on the spinal cord, abut when I use it there is no back pain or discomfort at all.

What company did dr recommend?

FYI Medtronic is the only one that is MRI capable.

You will do a trial for 1-2 weeks and that will allow you to see if you like it or not before the actual implant.

unless something has changed, they always do a trial run w/ the stimulator. If you have over a 50% improvement rate, they'll approve the permanent stimulator.

I had one implanted in June of 2014. I had the non rechargeable battery installed. My battery died this week and will need to be replaced. I have to say I am pleased with the results and it has helped. It's not for everyone but I decided on the simulator instead of having another fusion.

Every dr is different. Just like every SCS is different too.

No idea but good luck. Chronic pain has to be horrible to deal with.

I would attempt it if you have chronic leg pain and have exhausted all other options. Why is the disc inoperable ?

It's pinching the nerves of the spinal cord. Heart problems and medicine, can't stop blood thinners and meds for the surgery
