Dewey Destin Seafood-crab island location (not Destin Harbor). Try to time dinner with the sunset. Royal Red Shimo and Crablegs on a wharf over the water while watching the sunset. Can't be beaten.
THIS !!!!!!!!!

Rent a party barge and head to Crab Island. Prop Stop on steroids.

Unbelievably over-priced. They price it like it's fricking Seaworld, but it's definitely NOT worth the price of admission.

AJs Bar & Grill is a GREAT place to eat. Get the firecracker shrimp as an appetizer. Easily the best restaurant in the area. Howl At The Moon on the boardwalk used to have decent night life, but I haven't been there in a while. Entertainment wise, Big Kahunas has the best Waterpark and miniature golf, and The Track has the bes Go-Karts. In the morning, head down to a place called The Pancakery. HUGE arse portions for extremely cheap.

Yep. Service members can rent them from the MWR at Eglin AFB.
ETA: it's like the Prop Stop, but w/o most of the trashy people.

we have been staying east of destin for the last 20 or so years and the farthest in to destin we have gone in that time is the Destin Commons or Kelly's Plantation for an occasional golf round. We went to AJ's last week to meet some friends who were picking us up on their boat and holy frickin' shite!!! who would voluntarily "vacation" in that area these days? the traffic is ridiculous and we rode up and down the shoreline looking at the crowds on the beach - wow.

We were in Destin a week ago and made the drive over to 30A for Stinky's one night. Got there at 8 and had an hour and a half wait. There's a bar next door where we had a few beers. Food was good. My wife got the Stinky Stew and it was pretty good. I had grouper topped with Crab meat and it was good...not amazing but pretty much what I expect.
One night we at at Fat Clemenza's. I've been there a few times. Small Italian place with great pizza and calamari. Haven't ever tried anything else but it gets good reviews.
McGuire's has been good in the past. Didn't make it this time. Tried a Sushi place on Old 98 that I can't remember the name of. It was okay but not something I would recommend as a must have meal.
