When our daughter was little, she brought home an assignment where they had to designate if certain occupations were "male" or "female" occupations. Doctors were supposed to be men, nurses were supposed to be women, etc. I thought my wife was going to burn that school down. They pulled that assignment from the future syllabus and wrote us an apology.

I don't see the problem with the assignment

I wasn't a bad kid, I was mischievous and bored, always had good grades and don't ever really recall trying too hard. My dad knew this about me, and while I never openly told him about pranks and things I did at school to get in trouble, he knew I often did things. I remember him over hearing me tell one of my friends what I was planning to do. His reply to me was "You better make sure your plan covers everything so you don't get caught, because if you do, I'll beat your arse not for what you did, but for getting caught". Good times.

My mother did. John Curtis over at Live Oak told her to "get her husband to talk to him next time". Fireworks occurred afterwards.

Naaa. My mom told us that when teachers call her, she will take their word over ours so she gave the school permission to discipline us as they see fit.

I got punish work on occasions and in school several times, but if my parents would have owned anyone it would have been me.

One time me and this other guy got wrote up for cutting up in class. Instead of going to the principal's office we threw the referrals away, fricked around a little while then went back to class, and was just quiet.. And the teacher said "well yall don't look too happy what happened?" we told her that he gave us punish work that had to be done the next day and she was like "that's good. Maybe yall will come to class and act like yall have some damn sense"

This one time in High School when I was riding the bus I tied a string to an army man and threw it out the bus window.

They're not nursing homes, they're assisted living.

Nursing homes are where the abuse happens, I'll give you that.

Got suspended from high school, the vice principle called my dad to explain why and my dad said not a problem, he can come work for me.

Not my parents, but my college roommate. We went to HS together. 2 weeks before graduation his father had a heart attack. He had all A's, but one teacher told him that if he didn't come to school and take his final in her class he wouldn't be allowed to walk through commencement. The VP eventually overruled her. Afterwards she told my friend, "you'll never amount to anything with your attitude".

Fast forward 4 years and we were back at the school for a basketball game. He runs into the teacher and tells her he remembers her saying he wouldn't amount to anything, then says "I just got my acceptance letter to Med School...so you can suck on that".

He is a Thoracic Surgeon in Abington, VA now....oh, and she's dead. So, I guess he is doing better than her right now.

It's sad. The kid is an absolute genius. Like, completely blows me out of the water intellectually. He just sits at home and plays video games.

He's young. There's still hope for some new tech or meds that can help him function. .

My Dad had so much clout where we grew up, it pisses me off that I didn't realize it until after I was grown and gone. Pissed me off when I found out. He didn't abuse it but I sure as hell would have.

My parents did the same thing. Teachers always had free reign to whip my arse. Anytime the entire class was acting like a bunch of jackasses, me and my best friend were singled out, and the teacher would be the shite out of us because our parents were the only one's that ok'd it. My arse got beat so much through school I became immune to it.

Haven't read through all the pages, but how many of you juvenile delinquents spelled "principle" instead of "principal"?
