My inlaws bought the house I grew up in. About 5 miles from where I now live. I'm amazed 2 adults and 3 boys managed in such (relatively) tight quarters. Std ranch style single story approx 2200 s.f.

We lived in a 1500sq ft house when I was growing up with 2 adults and 3 kids.

A family of 6 used to be fine in a 1100 Sq ft house. It's amazing how everyone thinks you NEED a 2000 Sq ft house for a family of 4 now a days.

If I told my wife we were moving into a 1 bathroom 1200 Sq ft house she'd shite.

We don't need bigger houses. We need less junk.

Need table pics! Very cool story. Reminds me of our gone poster, who was a carpenter.

So true. Our house is like it was built for giants. It is just two of us, 2,200 sf. Luckily we are minimalists, so we don't have a bunch of useless stuff. But, we could inherit a family of 4, easily.

Yes... We moved to another city when I was 8. We were back in town 2-3 years later and we drove by the house and my dad knew the new owner so we stopped by.

Again, it was only 2-3 yrs since I saw it as an 8 yr old. The adults all kinda chuckled when I kept saying it was so much smaller than I remembered... and the new owners put some $$$ into their renovation, and some snot-nosed punk is in their living room telling them how small their house is.

I haven’t tried knocking for a visit however I have driven past the 2 houses we lived until I moved out at 20 yrs old. We had a rental until I was 7 when dad bought a house a half mile from the rental. I drive by them each time I visit relatives nearby.

We'll be empty nesters in about 2 years and we want to downsize at that time.

My wife and I have talked about it and we want something more like 1600-1700 sq ft once the kids are gone.

We still have some of the cypress wood left over. My dream is to build a house one day and use it for a mantle or exposed beam

house you grew up in,

Was recently torn down and two smaller houses were built on the same property. I guess it was a good return for the builder's money, but that old house with its large garage/shop was built well and was spacious.

Really is. I have only seen pictures of the two houses and they look cheap and thrown together. My dad would be in tears.

My mother lived in Grey Oaks there in Vicksburg Mississippi through her middle school and high school years… she took us there whenever we were in middle school. It was the first time she had been back, pretty cool place.

I inherited my childhood home. Was there a few days ago and try to spend at least a week a month there. I never thought of it as anything but a house from the 60s until both my folks died and I started going through the mountains (literally) of stuff they and accumulated (plus stuff from my grandparents). It was like reliving your life. I love going there now.

I went by the location of my grandmother's house once. There were three tri-plexes there now. Gone were the coconut palms, mango trees, and key lime tree. It was pretty depressing.

I grew up in a really rough part of town until I was about 10 years old. It’s gotten even tougher over the last 30 years. I have 0 desire to go back there.

When I was 8-10 years old, circa 1978-80 and my family first moved to BR, we lived in a house in the neighborhood on the other side of Plank Road from Tony's Seafood. In fact, we lived next door to the Pizzolatos, who owned it.

As you may imagine, that neighborhood is beyond sketchy now, some 40+ years later. About 10 years ago, I played golf with my nephew in Baker and on the way home, around twilight time, we detoured and drove by the old house. He thought I had lost my mind driving through there near dark

It was sad/depressing to see the street where I used to play freely look so dangerous and run-down.

My parents still live in the house I grew up in. I had a cow when they got rid of their landline, so idk what I’m gonna do if they ever sell.

Several years ago I was able to go back to the house my dad grew up in. The owners were super gracious and showed me around, pointing out things they’d changed and how they used to be.

No but I’ve always wanted to. Grew up in Southdowns and now live in that area again and jog by my childhood home every now and then and thought about asking to.

However, I have family overseas that I went visit and they took me to visit my great grandmother’s house in rural France. Was not expecting that but I met the new owner and was surprised how small of a house it was for 9 people to live in.
