I'm pretty close to burning everything I own and buying all new clothes, shoes, belts, etc.

Maybe even hiring a personal stylist to go shopping with.

I'm thinking this might be a wise investment, esp for a soon-to-be single guy living in a big city

yeah, I hate clothes shopping and hence never do it...

Yes. After I lost a lot of weight. I used it as an opportunity to revamp my general style.

I did for a while, but I've recently gone back to wearing them.

Pray tell. Sounds like this is a much better topic for the OT.

I buy nice clothes, but never "trendy" thus I don't need to periodically update everything

I did when I went from a job in an office environment to the job I have now. My wardrobe for work consists of golf and fishing shirts, blue jeans and work boots. I still have some of the nicer clothing for occasions that call for them, but I makes it really easy to get dressed in the morning.

I reset my wardrobe a year or so ago. I got divorced and lost a lot of weight. I don't wear trendy stuff, but being married I kind of lost touch with style and didn't really care what I wore. Lost some weight and bought a couple pairs of designer jeans and a few nice shirts- it really got me jumpstarted on taking care of myself for a change. Moved on to new shoes, belts etc. Now I buy a shirt or 2 a month just to keep everything fresh. Gave me a great outlook on life.

My wife worked for a guy while in college who literally had a "stylist" who filled his closet and apparently left a book with different outfit combinations for him to wear . Like a picture book to show him what went with what.

Pretty much you subscribe and they send you a couple of full outfits a month for $X. Can't tell you if it's worth it or not as I've never done it, but all that I've seen send really trendy and modern clothing. I like to think I dress pretty well, but the stuff considered trendy today is stuff I wouldn't wear.

If you're 40 a lot of them probably are not for you, but I'd bet you can get on the Google and find a service directed towards your demographic.

Yes I'm almost 30, spent 10 years in uniform in the military. Always cared about having nice clothes. Now a $7 cat tank top from Walmart satisfies me.

I still dress nice, but will admit love funny cheap shirts. My new space jam tank is probably? my fav.
