Have any of you ever had a pig as a pet?

They're my favorite animal, and I don't know why.

Maybe I could get one and train it to find truffles.

My sister did.

A Vietnamese pot-belly. Allegedly.

Completely adorable. Got completely HUGE.

She lived in a shot-gun house in New Orleans. He now lives on a farm somewhere outside of BR.

Micro-pigs stay relatively small.

Well, sure. But they're marketed as a type and they definitely don't get as big as other varieties.

They are kinda annoying and destroy shite. Be careful on who you buy from, a lot of people get the "small" ones thinking they will be cute forever and then end up with a 100 lb monster that fricks up their shite.

I had a pig once. was gong to sell it to be butchered but something weird happened. there was a sign every morning above his pen that said how wonderful he was. he ended up winning a blue ribbon at the state fair. oh well, he looked so plump we killed his arse anyway. good eats my friend

Yes, I had four. One lived to be seventeen, so it is a long time commitment. They get along well with dogs and very easy to train. They will root and you can not stop without putting a ring in their noise. This will only slow them down.

This. They are very smart animals but the one I had liked to tear shite up. Got really bad when he hit puberty and wanted hump everything. Constantly had to fix his pen after he would tear it up trying to get out.

They're my favorite animal as well. And I don't know either. But, I've wanted one since I was a kid. Hopefully one day. I've been looking at the micro minis. They don't get as big, but you have to be super careful with how much you feed them apparently.

While this may be true the opposite is NOT. I researched this heavily and talked to actual owners/breeders in person because I was thinking of getting one but already have a dog. The consensus was that they are two different types of animal and one of them is delicious (unless you are Vietnamese then both...). Anyway, there was more than one story of all being well and then coming home from work to find a happy dog and pig guts everywhere. A breeder put it like this: "You know how people that you are around every day piss you off and you would like to kill them but it is illegal? Yeah, well dogs don't have that issue." I laughed but realized that it would be likely the pig wouldn't survive to grow up with my dogs so I passed on one.
