My sister lives there (and several friends). I love the area.

I live in Houston, so it's a jestful competition between two of the better cities in the country.

That's the kind of clientele that patronizes the Mall of La. It's not dangerous...it just isn't Lennox or The Galleria. It's nicer than other malls in the state, but that isn't saying much.

No indoor mall in Louisiana doesn't have some at least some trash in it.

No mall is a pleasant place (especially on the weekends) for the typical TD poster. These cathedrals to capitalism exist primarily for young female shoppers.

but damn the MOL went from the good mall to the bad one fast.

That place is close to 20 years old now. I wouldn't consider that fast.

I took my gf there two weeks ago. It's about the same as I remember it the last time I went...10 years ago. Someone brought up the internet, it's true for me. I do most of my shopping online.
Now that I think of it, I haven't been to the Lafayette mall in probably 5 years, and I live only 15 min away. Do men in their 30s go the mall unless a woman drags then there?

200k isn't "money" anywhere in America.

Northpark in Dallas probably has more monied shoppers than anywhere. There are a lot of good malls left. Most people "with money" as you say, shop Monday-Thursday, not on a weekend. MOL has fallen but there are a couple of good stores that come in handy- Williams-Sonoma, Pottery Barn and Sephora.

Maybe. I can think of some places with per capita wealthier citizens, but Dallas certainly isn't short on real money.

Well, it is 96th percentile nationally, so that wouldn't be a ridiculous notion

I think the internet killed the malls, in more than one way. In addition to shopping, it was a very large social scene for teens.

And we're talking about malls. It's probably the top 1% of mall shoppers.

$200-250k is good money if you're young and single
$500k is decent if you are older and have a family
$1MM is good money for a family
$1-10MM and you can say you're well off
$10-25MM is hakuna matata
$25-100MM is old money
>$100MM is loaded

If you're older than 25 in the first category, you shouldn't be in a mall. 2nd category is still mall. Anything more, and no mall. That means the interior of the mall, not the department stores attached to them

That being said, there are small, upscale groups of shops connected to each other. I don't consider that a mall though

Westfield Mall in La Jolla is pretty solid. Open air mall without a lot of trashy people.

My dad lives just outside of Chicago and there's a nice outdoor mall near him in Skokie. Used to be called Old Orchard, but I think it may have been bought out by the same group because I think it goes by the same name.
