Has anyone here been to Wolf Creek Ski Area?

I'm thinking about taking the family there during spring break. What were your thoughts of the place? Where did you stay?

Been there a handful of times. Stayed at different places in and around Pagosa Springs. They get a ton of snow. Pretty small but fun mountain. You have to go through Wolf Creek Pass to get from Pagosa to the mountain, which is no joke in even slightly bad weather. Once you're at the mountain, you're there for the day, it's hard to get in and out of. No ski in ski out and limited dining options.

IIRC my family and I rented a cabin in South Fork. Great snow in wolf creek, we had a blast

We stayed in Pagosa Springs. Drive was about 40 minutes. It is small and family friendly.

I haven't been yet. It's on the list for this year. Passed by it several times though.

My family used to own a home in Pagosa Springs. It's one of my favorite places in the world. Wolf Creek is awesome. Great snow, no lines, a lot of bang for your buck.

Its a great place, if you dont mind the drive to the resort then I suggest it, if you want ski in and ski out you need to go to the front range. You can stay on the mountain in Durango at Durnago Mtn Resort

I live close enough to drive in and ski for the day. We just haven't done it yet.

Really underrated mountain. Look for houses in Pagosa Springs. You will also be in driving distance to Durango mountain for a day if you want

There 28 years ago. Most snow in the Rockies. 3 lifts only back them but great place to ski. Stayed 9 miles down the road in a dive hotel. $25/night - the last tenants half eaten pizza was still in the fridge. Didn't have snow chains so had to hitch ride with ski patrol in the morning and hitch a ride back down to the roach motel after the lifts closed. We were young and couldn't afford better. Good times.

It is our go-to. Easy to find houses or condos in Pagosa like others have said. As I recall, the Wolf Creek website has links to places if you dig around a bit. Also check out the hot springs at Pagosa...we have a large group and go every night...it is fun and the kids enjoy it too. Mountain is great skiing. Also easy to do on the cheap...you don't have to rent lockers (they have cubbies) and you can easily bring lunch. Great runs and gorgeous snow. Last year was one of their lowest snowfalls on record and it was still better skiing than I've ever experienced at larger resorts. The drive is not too bad. I've skied Breckenridge, Steamboat, Copper Mountain, Angelfire, and every mountain large and small around Tahoe and Wolf Creek is my favorite. Ski school is good too compared to others that are half day or more expensive.
