I got you. I honestly wasn't trying to be a prick, I just wasn't sure if you knew what you were saying (or that I knew what you were getting at).

If you are from south Louisiana, it is worth taking a look at the surname list on this website.

Click on your last name and try to find one of your family members. If you can find one, its pretty interesting to follow your family name all the way back to the 1600's.

Like everyone else, I have many famous ancestors. Kings, artists, authors...too many to list. I'm also related to Brett Favre, but so is everyone in Mississippi it seems.

My great-great grandfather was on the Sultana on April 27, 1865 when it exploded. His parents and siblings died. He was only a teenager, but he was a hero and was said to have saved many people from drowning.

That helps. Whoever put all that information together did a ton of research. Does your family name go back a pretty good ways on there?

My great-grandfather was not actually my great-grandfather. And his information is almost impossible to find. So most of my family's names are probably fake.

Found out that I had some German, Spanish and Scandinavian that I wasn't expecting. Also found out that my last name was assumed by one of the ancestors to avoid trouble back in merry old England.

Not sure how well it'd do for me. We just found out we have no clue who my blood grandfather is for me and everyone else on my mothers side is European. My dads side moved to the U.S. in the 1920s and they all live in one place so they aren't hard to track.

Pretty common name around here. I think all Favres are descended from someone who had a Spanish land grant during the colonial era.

Don't all Broussards and Jeansonnes share a common ancestor from the 1600s? I remember seeing that somewhere but it was a long time ago.

Not sure when the graves are from but they're definitely French soldiers.

My ancestors were French generals under Napoleon to my knowledge. We may have common ancestors.
