I never have, but a coworker used it to find members of his biological family(he is adopted).

That I'm Irish and my ancestors were poor.

You do locate a lot of third and fourth cousins if you do the DNA swab.

I spent a weekend using it under the demo mode and found quite a bit of info on my family. My grandfather, an immigrant from Italy , was in the merchant marine as a young man and was on many manifest of ships going back and forth from South America to New Orleans where he settled after arriving at Ellis Island at the turn of the century.

Used their free trial and someone apparently did all the work for me. Was able to go back to 1752 when my ancestors left France to come to new Orleans, which they then left to move and start the town that holds my namesake.

Same with my dad. I'm a mongrel of Scottish, Spaniard, Danish and Blackfoot Indian descent in the last 150 years of his studies. Pretty cool stuff though.

I did the DNA thing. I have over 4k fourth cousins or closer and Almost all of the Spanish DNA has been bred out of my family

My spouse and I have a common ancestor born in 1714 - my 5x great grandfather seven generations back and her 7x great grandfather nine generations back.
