That’s the other thing - is it that hard to go a block further before making a U so you have time to get across lanes reasonably?

There are times I’ll feel guilty cutting it close if not a touch late - and then 2-3 cars behind me coast on through There are two intersections on my commute that I see accidents from “suggested red lights” incredibly regularly.

I see this daily in Houston. They run red lights for sport here.

I don't think they even write tickets for running red lights on the North Shore. Been that way for years.

I rarely see cops pulling people over anymore.

This. I couldn’t tell you the last time I saw BRPD or EBRSO on a traffic stop that wasn’t one of the following:
1. A wreck.
2. A K-9 unit and/or multiple police cars, sketchy looking driver standing outside the vehicle, etc. (e.g. probably drug related).
3. At night between 11 PM-3 AM (e.g. DWI stop).

If BRPD still has a traffic enforcement division, I don’t know what the hell they are doing. Hell I haven’t even seen an inspection checkpoint in what feels like 5 years (I’m not really complaining about that one).

Presumably it’s related to a lack of officers. But it definitely feels like the public has been slowly becoming bolder and bolder over the past 2-3 years.

A cop sure stopped me walking yesterday to tell me I’m attractive, and he missed watching me run.

I’ve lived my whole life in the poorest state in the country. I’ve seen this my whole life. Can’t see I’ve seen an increase. Just the same amount.

It’s another version of the classic shopping cart ethics problem. People don’t do the right thing for the sake of being a decent person or as a member of society anymore. If they think nobody is watching, they do whatever suits their needs with little regard for the other people on the road or potential traffic issues they might cause.
