My MawMaw told me.."it's just as easy to fall in love with a rich one than a poor one"....I never did listen well.

"Just hold on loosely but don't let go. If you cling too tightly, you're gonna lose control. Your baby needs someone to believe in, and a whole lot of space to breathe in."

One day I'm gonna start following this advice.

Never got this one, but when I look back at some of what I walked away from in my early 20s as a single guy in his early 30s, I want to kick my own arse.

My dad once told me he better never see me take the easy way out or the path of least resistance. Life's been an an exciting challenge ever since.

To try and to fail is to learn. To fail to try is to suffer the inestimable loss of not knowing what might have been.

1. "I you are gonna do it do it right." - Never half arse any task and take pride in everything you do because it defines the kind of person you are.

2. "Always be a man of your word" - If you tell someone you are going to do something do it no matter what. Unfortunately this has taken a huge hit over the last couple generations

Before dropping me off at school everyday, my father would ask me "how many times are you going to live today?". I now ask my son that before dropping him off.

RIP Professor Kinchen, a really good man!

And I'll add:

"Opportunities don't happen. You create them."

Ive always said to myself and friends that people always sit around waiting for things to happen instead of getting out there and making it happen.

And always live by this:

"Dress for the job you want, not the job you have!"

Had a high school teacher with a poster of an arrow flying through the air. The phrase above it said

"If you aim at nothing you will hit it"

I use it frequently to remind myself to set goals. If you don't set goals then you will not achieve anything.

Never forget where you came from.

My dad's friend told me this as I left for high school.

"Get back in the truck."
Michelle Carter to Conrad Roy ....

Talk about a perversion of motivational advice.
