Uncivil discourse like you are posting here is one sign of a devolving culture. When two people can't discuss a topic cordially without personal cheap shots and name calling, it's a sign of societal breakdown.
Past generations wouldn't have considered being disrespectful to older people like some of the displays on here.

The more this sinks in, the more disturbing it feels, and the forthcoming freak show is going to be excruciating. I'm not hollow enough to watch reality TV, but I won't be able to buy groceries without seeing this loon smeared all over the landscape.

That's the problem, it's becoming harder and harder to ignore. I've never opened a Vanity Fair in my life so that one is easy but the ESPYs is something I typically watch but apparently I will not this year.

Yes she exists, it doesn't hurt you. Yes, she is on a magazine cover, it still doesn't hurt you. Yes she will get an ESPY, it still has literally no impact on 99% of Americans' lives.
To sit around and whine about it. To use something that unimportant as proof that America is at a low point is complaining about hurt feelings of the highest magnitude. So if anything I think this thread is an example of why America is declining.

Tons of people in this country don't think he is a hero. Just because it is shoved down your throat by the media doesn't mean it is the widely held opinion of every single person in the country.
