Or more correctly, the Irish Free State became a reality 100 years ago today in Dublin.
As with seemingly all things to do with Irish Independence, the strident political voices from all sides cannot agree on how to observe this anniversary, so it passes with a whimper, not a bang.

“Sláinte” to you here with Irish heritage.

Speaking of gingers, did you know that brown is not on any color spectrum at all?
Brown is just orange with a change in the contrast.
So, “certain shapes of people” should really just call each other or say to each other, “what’s up my ginger?”

Got back from Ireland in October. Traveled the Republic side and damn those people can drink; especially in Tullamore. Oddly enough, no one in Ireland drinks Tullamore DEW.

Remember those Free Staters betrayed their northern brothers. Ireland is still being occupied by a foreign nation.

The unionists most definitely still in Belfast will violently disagree with you.

A great many of we rednecks came from there. The migration to the deep south from the Carolinas in the 1820's was due to changes in the land grant law. Ireland's population took a nose dive after the potato famine. 1 to 2 million perished and another million hauled arse. My wife's family migrated to St Louis in about 1840.

Michael Collins's deal should have been embraced by all of the Irish politicians. Instead, some of them launched a civil war against Collins.

Had a wonderful trip to Ireland in March. Caught the St paddy’s day parade after 2 years of pandemic. Galway was our favorite stop. Cork is the most Irish city we visited.
