Meh. Cycling the spring wears it out, not static pressure. They're designed to be loaded and kept loaded. There are anecdotal stories of cops who keep their "carry" ammo loaded in magazines for years without problem.

I would wear your magazines evenly at the range, but I wouldn't stress on rotating your carry magazine. Probably does more harm than good.

Congrats on wasting your money. No one in this thread has ever fired a weapon in the name of "home defense". Should've just got an AR and took up hunting.

I got a phone call this evening that my 1911-22 I ordered is in.

My dad has one of the .22 training pistols the army used in the 40's (Colt Service Ace). That was the gun I learned to shoot with. I freakin love those things.

Congrats on being a condescending prick.

You don't know that.

I agree the AR is a better choice for defending yourself, but what does hunting have to do with protecting your home?

OP:

Something you may consider is a light for that pistol. If it's a newer HK it will have a picatinny rail in front of the trigger guard...look into streamlight TLR series.

If it's a USP you have to either get an adapter or use the crappy insight technologies light.

Congrats on the purchase and the decision to take responsibility for your own protection.

Oh really?

Granted, I call them magazines, but "clip" should not get the new age gun fan boy criticism it does.

Meh. I'm 99.9% sure and the one poster on this board who did have a weapon in his home during a home evasion couldn't get to it in time. Let's face it, the likelihood of defending your home with a gun during a home evasion is slim to none, mainly because
home evasions happen when the victim isn't around and if the victim is around there isn't enough time to defend yourself with your little handgun locked in your safe or tucked under your mattress.

Also, you need to reevaluate where you're living if you're worried about getting "got".

Well you've already been proven wrong so...

not sure what you're referring to, or how this is relevant in the least

I'm wondering what you base this on? I can assure you if someone attempts to break into my home while I'm there they are highly likely to be shot.

Again, where are you getting this nonsense? And are you seriously suggesting that since it is possible that things happen very quickly and defending yourself would be difficult, that people do not even attempt to do so?

They just know that in a situation like that, they would act like a pussy. So they assume everyone else will too.

Congrats on the purchase OP. The best advice I can give is to go to a pistol class taught by a professional. You will learn so much basic stuff from shooting stance to cleaning your gun. Classes are relatively inexpensive and the knowledge you will acquire will be ten times what you learn from going to the range by yourself.

So you've defended your home with your little hand gun? Nvm, don't answer that.

I forget sometimes that this is the OT, where everyone magically defies the odds.

If you have serious reason to be concerned about home defense, either get a shotgun or move to a better neighborhood. Preferably the latter, but shotgun >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>handgun in nearly any home defense scenario.

Also, recommend the judge, made by Taurus, as it is quite literally a shotgun hand gun. It shoots .410 shotgun shells and .45 long colt rounds. Smith & Wesson also has the Governor which shoots .45 LC, .45 ACP, and .410 but costs ~$1000 compared to Judge's ~$600.

Maybe we should ask Cork if he would have liked to have a home defense pistol on him?

No, you brainless hack, but I at least know the relevant statistics and even the CDC admits there injury rate is lower among those that use a firearm in self-defense compared to other methods. I don't expect much out of you, typical.
