I recently purchased a handgun for home protection and have one magazine loaded to capacity and the other one empty. I was told to rotate the magazine to not put excess stress on one of the magazine springs.

How often do you rotate or do you rotate them at all?

ETA: fix my incorrect terminology

1. Christ, they are not clips.

2. Don't worry about rotating, those springs will hold up for years.

My mags stay loaded. Cycling the springs wears them out, not leaving them compressed

What gun did you purchase?

What ammo are you using?

I got an 9mm HK with hollow point rounds. If you want the manufacturer I would have to go look.

What's more important, being able to reload your weapon in 2 seconds when you need it, or protecting your little springy-wingys?

It is better to have and not need...

Didn't know if the springs could lose tension if compressed too long and then have an issue when firing.

This

The last US WWII rifle that used clips was the M-1 Garand.

Tell that to the M! Garand

or to anyone who has experienced Garand thumb

One of the finest rifles ever made btw.

I digress

If you have serious reason to be concerned about home defense, either get a shotgun or move to a better neighborhood. Preferably the latter, but shotgun >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>handgun in nearly any home defense scenario.
