Fine, but when your provide me with shitty service, don't be surprised when I don't tip you greatly.
We have all been there before. I used to have a manager(who moved to another restaurant, unfortunately) who I would tip off if I thought I would have a problem table. She would them proceed to assist me with the table to make sure everything went smoothly, nothing went wrong and they got 5 star A+ service and food that came out perfect and exactly as they ordered it. Even then they would always find room to complain about the service and/or food in an attempt to get free food.
The "black people tip bad because they get bad service from white waiters who don't want to wait on them" myth is a lie. You can give perfect service to them and many will still complain.

I just KNEW I was gonna open this one and finally see some jews or asians as the perps.
I know this was probably in mock jest...but
Upon reflection I dont think I have EVER seen a photo lineup of perps attached to this type of story with anything other than black people.
Its the same with flash robs. Never seen a caucasian flash rob either.

I would just chalk you being seated in my area as a loss from jump street and focus my efforts on nonstereotypical bad tippers.
So basically because i'm black I am not entitled to good service when I go to your restaurant?

I went to Portico on Coursey right before it closed down, and watched a woman send back every single thing that was brought out. She sent back the app saying it wasn't as good as she thought it would be, sent back the next app because she thought it wasn't hot enough, sent back her entree for whatever reason.. and this is all after asking the server SEVERAL questions about every menu item. I snuck him a $10 on my way out and told him I saw what was going on.
Another night. One of the reasons we'll never return to Carrabas. Group of 6ish.
Person #1: After asking questions about the entree, says "I'll take ___"
Waitress: What side would you like?
Person #1: What are your sides?
Waitress points to the sides and lists off each one from memory.
Person #2: I'll take ____
Waitress: What would you like as your side?
Person #2: What sides do you have?
Waitress lists the sides from memory AGAIN.
I shite you not, every person in the party of 6 did this. I couldn't believe the girl didn't just tell them to read the sides on the menu.
I was always a friendly server, but boy could I lay on the passive aggression. When someone asked a question that was plainly written on the menu, I would point to it and still make them read it themselves.

I always give good service no matter what the skin color. Just because I have a party of a certain demographic who is less likley to tip well doesn't mean I will treat them like shite. What I do is leave no room for any doubt or complaint so if I get the shaft I know I didn't do anything wrong and that the party is the a-hole.

Nothing. But most of these types do this on purpose, knowing that in the last 30 minutes or so the restaurant has already cut a lot of its staff meaning there is a greater chance for something to go wrong, meaning easier chance for discount or free food.

The problem is that 90% of management give in to them out of fear.
Had one guy order a seafood platter ($30) from a coworker. When everyone's food came out, he decided he changed his mind and doesn't want that anymore. She explained that he can order whatever he wants, but he already ordered the seafood platter and it is on the table. They threw a fit. We still put it on the bill.
Dude paid with cash and purposely paid $30 less than the total. Was gone by the time she noticed.
She cried.

I've never in my life given someone bad service because they were black. Or because they were anything.
I never even gave assholes bad service. I find that being overly chipper and nice makes them self-reflect. I've had several grouchy white men apologize after the meal for being so rude at the beginning.. and I know it is because I didn't fight back like they wanted

Well, I guess that's making baby steps. However, delivery of said tip leaves something to be desired. But hey, Rome wasn't built in a day!
Black customers in Prairieville who order from my pizza parlor tip just as good as white customers. Fwiw we ain't Domino's.

More a case of you get what you pay for.
They were just keeping it real.

When I waited tables I would give African Americans my best effort just to see if I could garner a normal tip. In five years of serving tables I remember 2 incidents out of hundreds where I got above 15 percent.
I had this one table of 15 or so black women and we had a frigin blast, they were a ton of fun during the night and I thought I was going to make good on this table. of course they asked for sep checks and went it was done the bill was over 400 bucks for all of them and I got 10.61 cents. Never forgot that.

Not a lie for me.
My wife and I are both educated professionals. It is rare that we get a night out to ourselves, so we really look forward to going out. 90% of the time we have no issues.
Every once in a while we will get a server who clearly wants nothing to do with us for whatever reason. Now, when we look around and see you clearly being more attentive to your other customers and short changing us, don't expect a great tip.
Stereotype if you want, but i'm not going to tip you based off of black shame. We have tipped more then the meal cost when we were blown away by the great service, and I have had servers I didn't leave a penny.
Understand this, I don't control anybody else's actions except my own. All I ask is to be treated like you would treat any other man. You can carry any notions that you want, but just don't go bitching when I return the gesture.

how about this one?
group of 8-10. taking drink orders, 7-8 people ordered coke, tea, water, etc. last person orders lemonade...
"oh, yall have lemonade? let me get that instead"
"yeah, me too"
"bring me lemonade too"
and then there is the one woman who demands water and about 20 lemons and sugar packets

Well, if the staff members would have been armed, the world would be a better place with these 4 pieces of shite dead.

This is why I miss one of our old managers. She hated people who pulled this crap so when I tipped her off about a potential party that would do this she made 100% sure that everything went smoothly so they had no right to complain.
One night a party of about 10 tried their very best and my manager made sure they had no room for complaint and didn't budge at any bullshite fabricated complaint. They ran me to death and made all kinds of ridiculous requests but I just smiled, gave good service and made sure everything came out good.
Finally they complained that my manager was helping me out "Y you need yo managa 2 help u out u can't handle dis on yo own?" and I said that I just wanted to make sure that everything went well as we have a shorter staff since we had cut many of them. Then they complained to my manager about a bunch of things but she countered back politely and wouldn't budge or give them a discount. Finally they realized they weren't going to get a discount and angrily scrounged together their bill and made a scene when leaving the place.
I also had a party of 2 baby mommas one time. They ordered 2 waters and an appetizer and it took me about 30 seconds to get their water, I brought out the water and they said "Weah our appetizer at?!?!" really loud, I said it takes longer than 30 seconds to make and they got all mad, and followed one of our other waiters into the kitchen to complain about my sassy attitude. They proceeded to cause ruckus and noise the rest of the time they were there.
