I am an iPhone 5 user and I started a group message last night with 5 buddies so we can plan a hunting trip for next weekend.

Everyone in the group message is getting the texts and are able to respond back to the entire group fine except for one person. He is using a Galaxy S3 and he gets our texts but they are shown as if he were in a convo with each person individually.

Is there any way to fix this so we don't have to repeat what he said in a text so the whole group can see it?

He shouldn't need to. It's probably a setting he has toggled.

He downloaded something called Pow Wow or something and that didn't work. Is there one you guys recommend?

Yes, it's one of the MMS settings he has wrong.

I wouldn't know what setting to look and change. He doesn't know really anything about the phone except sending a single text and calling people.

I'm just not familiar enough with the Android Phones.

my Galaxy S2 did the same thing with group texts. I'd get each text as an individual text and respond the same way. Never searched for an option to enable group texts as normally I only wanted to talk to one person in the group

I've had an Android for the last 4 years or so (Note 2 currently), and group texts were my biggest complaint. I downloaded Textra and it has been awesome ever since.

If he downloads something like this, should he be able to fall into the group message with no problems or would we have to begin a new one?

I have an android and have always had group texting. After some googling, it appears that Sprint may not enable it. Not sure if he uses Sprint, though.

Settings > About Phone > System Updates

He may be using an old version of Android.

It should fall into it the next time a group message is sent to him, but I'm not 100% sure.

I have Sprint, and I can participate in group messages.

My SO and her family all have iphones and I have a S4 and we group text seamlessly.

I honestly couldn't imagine this. There are some days I've got 3-4 different group texts going on for various reasons. They're great as long as you're not away from your phone for a few hours and come back to 100+ messages.

When I used bytesms on jailbroke ios, you could just hold down on the conversation and mute it.

textra should fix the problem, OP.

instant capability for group text for android users pre 4.2.2 update.

of course he has to enable the group text functionality once he downloads it.
