Gretna, especially Old Gretna, where I grew up is charming and historic. Has some nice places to eat and the old houses make it a very quiet, cheap place to live. And it's literally a 5 minute drive to New Orleans.

I always thought Manhattan was the diving line, but now I see it's actually the canal that runs parallel to Manhattan two blocks east.

Metairie below Causeway, between the lake and Airline is better than anywhere Gretna has to live. Everything above Causeway might as well be Kenner.
