I need a graphic designer that can help with designing a logo for our tailgate crew. Any suggestions as to where to start?

Find a graphics major and give them a shot. Most will be grateful for the opportunity and give you some original thought. And pay them for the work they do, not just the finished product. If they give you three logos to choose from, remember they still had to develop the two you don’t pick.

How does one get in touch? What's the going rate for something like this?

My wife (no pics) is a graphic designer. She can help, but as a professional she charges. I’ll tell her it’s a Tigerdroppings special. Just reply with an email.

Worked with a chick at a paper company in Scranton PA that got into it. Went to New York for a while but flunked out. She was the office cute chic but I went for the conservative blonde. I follow them both on Instagram now and I think the blonde has fake cans. Would still smash.

Get someone to do it on the Fiverr app.
I get tons of stuff done there for around $50

99designs.com if you’re willing to spend the money.
You create a logo contest with a design brief, inspirational examples, etc. and a prize tier (based on how much you’re willing to spend). Designers then submit entries competing for that prize, and they’ll often provide several different rough ideas. There’s a back-and-forth period where you provide feedback/answer questions and the designers update their designs accordingly. You then narrow it down to a winner, who receives the prize money and provides the high-res files for reproduction. You own the copyright once you select a winner.
It might be more than you’re willing to spend on a tailgate logo but I had really good results with them. It’s great if you have a rough, but incomplete idea of what you want because you get a lot of different perspectives.

Leave those kids alone, they have enough pressure in that program that they need to focus on instead of dealing with some truck club that wants to desperately underpay them for their time.
Please use one of the links to an Indian logo design website where your 75 dollars will feed a family of 12 for a few months and you'll get a logo good enough for your truck club's bumper stickers.
