I've been going to Cesar at Magazine Street Barber Shop for almost 6 years now. It's on Magazine near Napoleon so it is right in your hood.

Aidan Gill

Old school barber shop. And shaving supplies. Looks like a shave nerd place?

Pricey??

What does Aidan charge? Hot neck shave at the end of the cut would be nice. Before my last barber retired he would do that. Current lady does a good cut but doesn't shave the neck old school style. The charge is $16 and I'll pay with a $20 bill and let her keep the change.

Aiden Gill will set you back about $50 for the cut and hot cream neck shave. Carl in Canalplace will do it for 20.

Whitney Barbershop is downtown (5th floor?) at St Charles and Gravier.

I've also used Alge Haley at Metairie Rd by the tracks.

Never been to a barber uptown.

Ouch. Never mind.

My guy in Houston is $16. $20 bill and everybody walks away happy.

That doesn't help the OP though. Sorry.

$50 is not that bad for a cut and a straight edge shave. Depends what you are looking for

In and out cut yeah that's steep. If you are more about relaxing, getting a few drinks, hot towel, straight edge shave, spending maybe an hour or an hour and a half $50 is pretty standard for downtown

Off topic but related;

I get $10 fades every week (military). Was down in San Antonio and walked in to El Matador, lady told me $45 for a fade. I was like Wtf. Then she told me it came with 3 complimentary drinks. Definitely sold me sitting there getting my haircut drinking beer out of a frosty glass mug.

Wish more places did this.

There's a place like Aidan Gill on Hampson street uptown right off Maple. Cheaper than AG and former AG employees who split off. They just changed the name to something I'm unsure of but you should be able to look it up.

Aidan Gill doesn't give a straight shave. They use a multi blade razor

For a straight edge face shave yes. But they are just talking a neck shave I assume. My guy does that for 16. Hot towel etc.

Now if it's full face? Yeah that's standard.
