Wow, sounds disgusting.

Disgusting is definitely an adjective I'd use to describe places like Golden Corral and Ryan's, and I'm not necessarily talking about the food.

tss---long story :chris:

We were at Ryan's once (we've since & long ago swore off those kinda slop houses). Anywho, all the Ryan's female wait staff were enamored with a dude wait staff worker named Jim.

We were sitting near the drink fountain and one wait staff chick asked Jim what his favorite soda was, and Jim said a kamikaze. Jim then commenced to show them how to make a kamikaze. It was a squirt of every different soda on the machine.

The chicks were super impressed.....Jim

why is it that GC's are white trashy but the olden days piccadilly places weren't?

GC is an AYCE joint. Piccadilly isn't.

I last went to a GC about 10 years ago on Williams in Kenner. Holy hell batman. It was all the you described and then some.
I remember stepping on a chicken wing that was in the ground and almost busting my arse.

Piccadilly was unique and there was not much competition. They also used to serve really good food and at times, even fresh vegatables. The Picc at Westmorland had an organist on Sunday's and gents in white coats helped carry food trays to the table. A far cry from shitty GC,

The fact that Golden Corral reuses silverware and looking at some of the patrons that place their morbid fat lips on them makes me absolutely sick to my stomach

They do a $2 to go box after you are done. I stuff that little thing to the max with shrimp or a meat substitute.

Going to Piccadilly after church was a real treat. No telling who you might see in the line that went all the way outside the building.

You comments are about what I would expect. But if people knew what most resturant kitchens look like, nobody would eat out.
Back in the 80s, I called on some of the best places in Baton Rouge. I can tell you the kitchens were disgusting. The food may come out good but you don't want to see where it was cooked.

I remember going to Golden Corral as a kid and we all loved it before going straight downhill the past 10-15 years.

So glad to see the GC up instead of Buc ee's

Don't know that for a fact but the Sherwood one closed awfully close to when this one opened. Maybe they just moved the business.

It's been scientifically proven that, at any given moment between 10 a.m and 9 p.m., somewhere in America a 10 year old boy is sticking his finger in the chocolate fountain at a Golden Corral.

drink stations out of ice, limited clean silverware, picked over inventory, and I even saw a piece of chicken in the hopper with just the skin removed. Won't get into the dining population.

So....you went to a Golden Corral.
