Are you putting them on your roof or in an array on your yard? The roof saves space, but the array allows the panels to move to follow the sun, easier access for maintenance, and higher energy yields.

You better make sure those panels are UL listed or you won't be getting any credits.

The average is about 12 years.

Considering the average American doesn't live in the same house this long, I can't see how this is a wise investment.

The guy told me 4.5 yrs and it pays for itself. Total cost is $25k. I only pay $5k and they financed me no interest no payment for 18 months. So I can wait until I get the tax credits to pay for it. I usually get about $4k back come tax time so I'll just throw that on it and pay it all off.

It's all going on my roof and can't be seen from the street. They guaranteed I will save $100 a month

Did you check to see if your homeowners insurance covers the replacement if a hurricane rips them off of your roof?

Better check your homeowers to see if storm damage to the panels is covered.

My question is what do you do when its time to repair/replace the roof. How do the mexicans get shingles under the panels?

My neighbors roof sheathing is rotting from water leaking under the shingles where the panel mounting screws penetrated the roof, and the company that did the install is no longer in business. The solar panel business is turning out to be like the vinyl siding industry the 1970s.

$25k - $20k in tax credits = $5k
4.5 yrs = 54 months
54 months x $100 = $5400
Sorry I didn't break it down for everyone. I didn't think it was that difficult

Sorry, I read it as you paid $5k up front and financed the rest, but I see it now...

Just get ready to bend over when you have to replace the bank of batteries that take up half of your garage at $250 each......

My insurance covers the panels and my rates did not go up. I have Allstate. This company is a construction company who has been in business since the early 90's. 25 yr warranty
