92 in September must put BR in an upper echelon murder club. Well, it's one thing we really excel at.

I was starting to worry. There were a few days without a murder.. But I guess today made up for lost days.

That's just the black people. There have been a handful of white people and Messicans killed too.

According to Helmet Head:

quote:

There were five shootings in the northeast corner of my city last night. There is a lot of blame to go around, but the bottom line is that until we bring EQUITY to our community in the form of equal access to education, jobs that pay a living wage, healthcare, transportation, restorative justice, etc. we will never get anywhere.

quote:

equal access to education

unless i'm mistaken... in 2017, all children in EBR are given an opportunity to attend elementary school, middle school, and high school for free. We call that the public education system, our tax dollars pay for it. Yes, the majority of the EBR Parish public schools suck, but they are segregated, so there isn't one demographic getting a leg up on the others.

quote:

equal access to ....jobs that pay a living wage

unless i'm mistaken....in 2017, it isn't difficult to get a minimum wage job with a high school diploma, much less a college degree. So, if they stay in said free public school, don't get a felony, stay off drugs, and show up to work with a good attitude and work ethic everyday, a job isn't a difficult thing to acquire or keep. This isn't the Great Depression.

quote:

equal access to ....healthcare

unless i'm mistaken....in 2017, most blue collar and white collar employment opportunities provide at least minimum healthcare coverage. If not, Obamacare, medicare, and medicaid provide a cheaper option of obtaining decent healthcare for free. There are often free clinics willing to help those in need as well.

quote:

equal access to ....transportation

unless i'm mistaken....in 2017, majority of households own an automobile. Often multiple vehicles. Get a ride from a family member to school, work, of doctor's office/clinic. Take a bicycle (regular exercise helps with the healthcare needs). Or pay a couple bucks for a bus ride across town. Most of Metro EBR is looped into the bus system. Transportation isn't an excuse to miss school, work, and/or not get a health check up in 2017.

quote:

equal access to...restorative justice

unless i'm mistaken... in 2017, I'm not sure what "justice" has to do with black on black crime every single day in the city of Baton Rouge. A Robert E Lee statue isn't holding a gun to the head of the black men on the streets of Baton Rouge, telling them to kill their fellow black man. Also, what statues are still in place? What oppressive symbols in Baton Rouge are keeping the people of North Baton Rouge from attending school, maintaining a job, visiting a doctor's office, or much less, parenting their children, and getting a ride to said places?

quote:

we will never get anywhere.

FALSE. 90% of the community will get up every morning at the crack of dawn, go to school or their jobs via means of their own transportation and contribute to society as their parents did and as their grandparents did. Never will any of the agendas you mention EVER EVER "opress" them OR cause them to kill another citizen of East Baton Rouge Parish.

You brainless spineless liberal count. John F Kennedy, couldn't have said it better:

The two victims from last night have been identified

quote:

A 17-year-old youth was identified as the victim in the fatal shooting on Cezanne Avenue Monday night and a 22-year-old man was identified as the victim in the fatal shooting on Rosenwald Road late Monday, said Baton Rouge police spokesman.

Armajae Smith, of 6880 Cezanne Ave., was found on the sidewalk near his apartment and died from gunshot wounds around 10 p.m., said police spokesman Sgt. Don Coppola.

Craig Thomas, of 4343 Denham St., was found dead on the ground next to his vehicle in the parking lot of 1188 Rosenwald Road early Tuesday morning, said police spokesman Sgt. L'Jean McKneely.

See you are mistaken, we have 2 markers dedicated to Jefferson Davis in the Baton Rouge Area. Crime will not sleep until these relics are removed. LINK

quote:

In 1998, there were seven markers identified in Louisiana. As of 2008, there are only six. The Southern Route of the Jefferson Davis Highway markers is: US-90 from the state line of Mississippi at the Pearl River, through New Orleans, then US-61 to Baton Rouge, continuing over US-190 (which was the old Route 7) into Opelousas. The route continues over old Route 40 to Crowley, then on US-90 to Jennings to the Sabine River and into Texas. The Northern Route is: I-55 from its intersection with I-10 to the state line of Mississippi, headed toward Fairview, Kentucky, the birthplace of Jefferson Davis.

Along these routes, the markers may be found in:
Gretna - Near Gretna City Hall
New Orleans – Canal Street at North Jefferson Davis Parkway
Baton Rouge – near the school on Government Street at Eugene Street
Baton Rouge – 555 Government Street

Livingston – on US-190, in Livingston, 20 miles east of Baton Rouge
Kentwood - Louisiana Welcome Center - I-55
