I enjoy driving thru NE Alabama/NW Georgia.

NE Alabama and NW Georgia are nice, but you'd be going way out of the way to go between the 2 places in that region.

AU to UGA is hideous country.

I don't even understand how they feel it could possibly be an enjoyable bike ride. Constantly having angry drivers zoom around you while you try not to get hit or run into a tree or ditch.

Lafayette - Baton Rouge

It's fun to look over the landscape and say - "killed a deer there, there, there, there. Caught a ton of fish there, there, there, there"

Black Bear Pass dropping down into Telluride. It has a pucker factor.

did that on my road bike on a hot 116 mile 'century'. going up the cherohala skyway after the ToTD was painful.

I love riding the skyway...That is the way I go in, and ride back down the dragon towards home.

I took a few days and rode the Natchez Trace with a friend...I got on at Muscle Shoals and rode South...so I didn't cross the bridge on the North end...it was November, but we were in the midst of an Indian Summer...It was a great ride.

Baton Rogue-Mobile: Just make sure you go on the scenic route that hugs the gulf instead of I-10

About how long does the alternate route take? I'm so effing tired of the I-10/12 route that I'd be willing to add a little time onto the trip for vacation this summer.

Asheville-Knoxville (Going through the Smoky Mountains)

Chattanooga-Nashville (Going over Nickajack lake, through Monteagle and Sewanee)

Santa Fe-Taos (Not a long drive, but gorgeous. You follow the Rio Grande for a good ways)

All these are great, going down the mountain towards Sewanee feels like you're on a roller coaster

Chattanooga to Ashville through the Ocoee is also a favorite

Anchorage to Seward, AK.

Torrey, UT to Bryce Canyon (Utah is probably the best state for a road trip)

Lone Pine, CA to Yosemite via the Alabama Hills (includes Tioga Pass)

Bodega Bay, CA to Manzanita, OR along the Pacific

HWY 20 through the Cascades in Washington

HWY 101 around the Olympic Peninsula

Albuquerque to Taos via Santa Fe on HWY 14

HWY 130 through the Medicine Bow range in Wyoming

Driven from Central Florida to Vermont. I don't remember where I was but there was some unbelievable scenery up there. Driving around huge hills in wooded areas with beautiful lakes below with amazing houses was a blast. I love driving.

Prescott to Sedona, via Jerome is a fun drive. The White Rim Trail in Canyonlands NP is something to behold, if you have a 4x4, and aren't scared of heights.

Gorgeous drive. You know they filmed parts of Return of the Jedi (the Endor scenes) out there?

Driving from Fort Bragg, CA up to the Avenue of the Giants area was a gorgeous drive as well. We drove up Pacific Coast Hwy for parts of that. Twisty roads with stunning views of cliffs overlooking the Pacific ocean. Felt like I was in a car commercial.
