A decent human would give the money and not get jollies killing a fricking rhino.

Spending 350K for a hunt. That's called capitalism. Africans have something somebody is willing to pay for. Americans are willing to pay for it. I see nothing wrong.

This.

The black rhino is critically endangered.

Not much sport in this type of hunting.

Most of the time they are killing old non breeding stock animals. Removing them has 0 effects.

He really can't think of anything better to do with $350,000?

I just don't get why anyone thinks it's ok to shoot an elephant. Sure if it's terrorizing a town, but that's really it. I just don't see the difference between killing elephants, chimps, and dolphins.

Elephants use tools. They can paint pictures. They have funerals. They look after each other from an emotional standpoint more than any other animal. It doesn't make sense to me that people are more outraged by whaling than they are people killing elephants. It's beyond me.
Well said. I agree 100%.

What's the difference between that and poaching? Hey someone is willing to pay for the ivory. Why not frick up the world because some rich a-hole wants a nice piano and to sell the world wide. Let's frick up the world in name of capitalism to where the only place our grandchildren will be able to see wildlife is the zoo.

So an entire African village gets to eat for a year. What's the problem here?

I'm ok with hunting but I agree with you on this.

More so it can't be that hard to kill an elephant. They take you right to them and then you just point and shoot with an elephant gun. Seems to be no challenge (I could be way off base here).

I understand elk and the likes because you have to actually hunt them and stalk them. But this is like any other paid hunt, they put you right on the target immediately.

you are way off base. Hunting an elephant is a hard hunt. Lots of stalking. They don't just stand there if you get close, they either haul arse or haul right at you and turn you into a greasy spot. Stalking an elephant is probably one of the scariest things I've ever done (and we were not hunting it), just seeing how close we could get and to see how big they are.

While that argument may work for the rhino, it certainly doesn't for the Elephant. They have matriarchs that look after the entire heard. It's as if someone comes into you house during the holidays, kills grandma, and the guy says "Well she was past breeding age anyway and this is going make a really nice picture." The elephant family would devastated, and go into mass panic for months or maybe beyond recovery. They're not like other species where they just get over death quickly.

Lets stay focused. A better human being could have given the money to feed the town AND save the animals. So, what is it that makes slaughter and suffering drive this despicable human being?

Well, it's the most emotionally intelligent animal next to humans. There's something to be said for an animal that is creative enough to paint and actually have funerals. Sorry if I don't want to live in a world where these animals are massacred just because some guy needs to make up for his abnormally small penis.

Why do some people feel the need to climb Everest? Why do some people feel the need to drive 120 mph? Why do some people like to jump out of an airplane? No one NEEDS to do ANYTHING, they WANT to do some things. I want to spot and stalk a grizzly in Alaska with a bow. I want the hide and the meat, but mainly I want the thrill and the sense of danger. I don't need to do it, I want to do it.

Many people don't believe these animals are property belonging to Africa or anyone else.

There are all sorts of shitty things people would be willing to pay to do that we collectively don't allow.

Hell, the fact that this guy can afford this by peddling lousy sandwiches made from inferior ingredients is enough of an indictment of capitalism.

Im just going to go ahead and assume that you are trolling because you just simply cannot grasp the idea of hunting conservation.
