$70k is definitely not worth it.

Honestly, wouldn’t pay that for any vehicle.

Same. Or I'd have to be making like 300k/yr to consider it, and probably still wouldn't.

The market for EV's just aren't that big. They aren't selling many of these Lightnings. The Hummer EV and Silverado EV aren't popular either.
No one is paying 80-90k or more for that garbage, Ford and others tried to gouge the market on the backs of Gov subsidies to push electric vehicles. frick them. A Lightning is worth 30k max.

How much do EV's add to the cost of ICE vehicles, 10%-20%?

good hope this makes ram drop the price of the ramcharger when it comes out. I think that will be my next truck as long as it has some type of supercruise or self driving capability.

wonder how much it would cost to do a V8 swap on one of those

You could go buy a V8 F150 for less, or 250 for about the same price.

I couldn't justify owning one at half the price.

My midsize V6 can get me to Shreveport or Pensacola and back on a tank of gas if I'm not pulling a trailer or drive with the pedal to the metal. It gets in the high 20s mpg.

There are a couple of places I go that I'm pretty sure has no charging station so that's not going to work.

When and if the vehicles get better volts per mile or another method of recharging, it might work but not now in the present environment.

Let me know when the price hits $0.00. Then I'll go purchase one.

I don't know if I'd look at one if they cut that price in half

I'd buy the shite out of one for 35-40k. Get rid of the wife's car and make it the daily driver.

Not that you’re wrong but most guys I know with trucks don’t even haul things around town. They just have

All of this. Many people, including this board, cannot assess where the technology currently is and how it fits in a lifestyle. I'm one of those people that don't really need a truck day to day but I am happy to pay to always have the utility of a truck.

My car has a back seat that never gets used but that does not mean I should trade it in for a couple.

Just because one has a truck does not mean they have to haul stuff around everyday. My wife has a truck that sits around for weeks at a time but when we go ride ATVs, guess what we are towing with? One guess, it's not my car.

No argument there and you can own whatever you like. I'm not saying you can't... but outside of a city with good EV infrastructure, it doesn't really make sense.

Even then, 98% of the time charging at home has you more than covered but the last 2% can be a real pain if you aren’t thinking ahead

I could have sworn that when it was announced, it was supposed to start somewhere around there.

I was skeptical that they could make any money at that price but would have been pretty awesome if they could.

They’re selling shite that no one asked for. All for a tax break from daddy government.

A friend of mine has one. I'm pretty sure he likes it, but then he's an engineer and this is his third EV. He doesn't have to tow things very far very often, and if he does, he also has an old Dodge diesel truck he can pull into service.

I can see the usefulness of an EV truck in some limited situations, but the price is too high for me, and I don't need another truck.

EVs have really terrible resale value.

When manufacturers continue to drop the MSRP this only makes resale value that much v worse.
