Government Motors got the bailout, not Ford.
quote:
More than a decade after the last economic crisis, Ford Motor Company is still paying down a fat government loan created by Congress at the start of the Great Recession to aid automakers with factory projects. Critics at the time focused on General Motors and Chrysler, each declaring bankruptcy and accepting government bailout loans through the U.S. Treasury Department's Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) to reorganize during the auto crisis that hammered the industry between 2008 and 2010. Meanwhile, Ford took a different path.

But in the end, it accepted a government loan, too. The debt remains on Ford books today as the company navigates a pandemic. In September 2009, Ford entered into an agreement with the Department of Energy and borrowed $5.9 billion as part of a loan program created to finance automotive projects designed to help vehicles built in the U.S. meet higher mileage requirements and lessen U.S. dependence on foreign oil.

EVs are just woke junk and everyone finally realizes it. Every time u stop to charge it a tranny shows up and you have to blow them.
I guess you don’t like going 0-60 in 3 seconds? It’s ok if you’re gay.

Weird how Tesla is doing just fine though.

still say that making the new "crx" a hybrid was a dumb move. I raced crx's in SCCA road racing and they were a blast. They should have kept that formula instead of turning it into a hybrid
Probably should start picking up non rusted shells of late 80's/early90's BMW's and Japanese shite boxes because of that. Some are surprisingly pricey now.

This is also contributing to the demise of a giant battery plant in Georgia.

quote:I think what EV manufacturers are looking at is regulation. Democrats are writing laws to eliminate internal combustion engines. I think most of these manufacturers are trying to stay in front of the curve with this next generation as well.
Y'all think that Tesla drivers have some desire to see EV's take over the market when it's anything but that. They are much happier being the exception to the rule.
Kids now are being taught it's a climate emergency.

Holy crap. I’m so sad that this needs to be explained. The dude was being sarcastic about his cousin having to charge his EV that many times for that long. My goodness gracious.

EVs fit a certain market segment, but certainly not the majority of buyers.
How manufacturers didn't know that is beyond belief, especially given current poor charging infrastructure.
ICE isn't going away anytime soon, and will continue to be the profit center for any legacy vehicle manufacturer.

Thread jack; why did Ford stop making the Excursion when Chevy is still making the Suburban?
Because expedition = suburban. Excursion was its own category.

This correct, and as you said, a big reason why manufacturers jumped on the EV bandwagon so hard.
But losing $30K per vehicle isn't sustainable for legacy manufacturers, and it's really tough on startups ( Rivian).

Tell those fricks they need to knock 15-20k off F150 MSRPs.
The 24s MSRP went up 5%.
