This is the first Taylor OBS that I've tried. I had only been using Proraso before this.

Love the Proraso White - it is my go to soap. I do have TOBS Avocado and Speick but they run second place to the Proraso. My latest acquisition is wet shaving place rustic soap in tobacco scent.

Wet shaving takes longer but makes a world of difference. Any teenager can use a safety razor - if they are stupid enough to move any razor laterally once, they wont do it a second time.

I've seen styptic pens at Walmart and Family Dollar.

Anyone who has used both, which is milder? I have a styptic pen. Usually hits the neck. Feels like an ant bite. Seen videos of a guy rubbing alum all over his face post shave. My assumption being I would pass out from pain.

The alum is not as sharp as the pen for lack of a better term. It will tingle in areas that you shaved a little too close

Where do you go to buy supplies? I only know of British Isle. I will not go to Art of Shaving. I feel AOS is good but no better than other quality stuff just priced higher.

Probably not

Have you ever shaved with a DE razor before? Because if not you're probably going to suffer regardless of the cream.

Light short strokes. Let the razor do the work. You probably won't actually cut yourself but your face will feel a little raw for the first few times you do it. Then you'll be golden and never go back.

I do recommend a quality aftershave. I use the Proraso green preshave cream as an after shave. I like that because I feel like it feels it leaves my face refreshed for a longer time. But definitely get something.

Yep. And an aftershave balm. I don't know if this is what you meant. Both can be used. The splash lets you know where you screwed up and closes pores. Then a balm can put out the flames after a bit.

I would use a pre shave as was mentioned also. If you don't have one put some hair conditioner on your wet face before applying the Barbasol. PLAIN conditioner or a PLAIN glycerin soap. The more scent and perfume is in it the more chance you have for irritation.

I still get a few shaves, then my neck feels a little raw and I'll get serious razor burn the next time. I'm using the Nivea shave cream and shave balm. I need to look into something better than what CVS had to offer. I also need an actual badger hair brush.

Also, if I try to rush it, I end up with a mess that takes a week to heal. Once you get a little burn, it takes me forever to get rid of it. I like the shave when I do a good job, but its been about a month and I still have my screw ups for sure.

I've mostly switched to boar. I picked up a Semogue 1305, and once it was broken in it's a great brush. Only dropped $20 on it.

I just got a puck of the mama bears awakenings and if you're into menthol and freezing your face it's like liquid nitrogen.

Online 90% of the time. I have bought a lot of sample packs trying to find things I really like. I also hit up CVS for old school scents like clubman / old spice / brute
