Just make sure if you donate, the person with the bucket is legit.

I'm sure people are going to be walking around the tailgates with a bucket, asking for "donations".

Frick those people. Scum of the earth.

ETA: Not the real Red Cross, the scammers.

Bigger scam artists than the actual Red Cross? That is impressive.

So this is not based on anything rather than an assumption you have?

Not a bad charity. about 10% is used on administrative and fundraising.

Most gets used for the right reasons.

What about those who aren't going to the game? Should we still be aware or just walk through life oblivious?

I think a lot of money gets sent to aid, just not aid in the direction it is intended. Contribute in the name of the SC disaster and the money is spent on the other side off the earth instead.

I personally have never had any dealings with them, always assumed they were good. I work with a lot of guys who needed them after Katrina and they just showed up for pictures and left. I have seen my co-workers give thousands of dollars to other causes (united way being one) and they get visually upset when the Red Cross is even mentioned.

That's understandable. After a disaster, relief agencies usually get a very large amount of money and in-kind donations in a short time, and it's more than they can use in the affected area.
