This board is filled with people crying about how inflation, mortgage rates, etc, are ruining their lives. This happens in every generation. Our country presents opportunities like nowhere else, regardless of who is president. I had to figure things out on my own. When I was in my 20s, I wish someone had been blunt and laid everything out for me. That is why I felt compelled to make this post. If you are in your 20s, your life will be miserable unless you take one of these paths:

1.) Start your own business. You should move heaven and earth to do this. Take risks. Try multiple times.

2.) Find a business to business corporate sales role with uncapped commissions. This will allow your effort to determine your income. I know people who aren't particularly bright who W2 300K, 400K and more in roles like this.

3.) If you can't pull off the other 2, and you are going to work for someone else, you need to have a corporate role in the upper 2%. This usually means enhancing your education. Don't get a law degree or an MBA or any Masters from a non-elite university. Only from top schools.

Also, you need to work your arse off. A MINIMUM of 6 full days a week, every week. No exceptions. Many weeks, you will need to work 7 full days. No one ever tells you this is necessary. It is necessary. Send your family on vacation. You need to stay home and work.

People will try to talk you out of working this hard. They are either too lazy or too stupid to achieve, so they will try to bring you down to their level. For the sake of yourself and your family, don't settle. Work your arse off.

Also, screw the stock market. Screw a 401K. Buy real estate.

Also, NEVER have debt. No credit card debt you can't pay off every month. Never have a car payment. Save and buy your home in cash.

I bet you are old and white. I bet you live in the South. I bet you do some type of trade or construction type job. I bet you dip. I bet you drive a truck that has your ego written all over it.

How many 20 year olds do you know who can buy their car and home in cash?

Buying a home for 200k which is now "starter" home prices with cash at below 30? How much blow were you selling at 25?

What? I know several people who are doing well with JDs and MBAs from non-elite schools.

You're telling this to people under 30. That’s just not possible to pay for a house in cash until you’ve at least been working for 15 years

The scary part is, this is actually how boomers think. "Millennials are so lazy, why don't they just start a business and buy everything in cash?!"
